For this tour we need to have an early start, as it is a day filled with scenic travelling. Leaving Cape Town, we take the highway through Somerset West and up the very scenic Sir Lowry's Pass that will give you a splendid view over False Bay.
We pass the Steenbras dam through the very lush Elgin and Grabouw, which is very famous for apples. As we go over the Houw Hoek Pass we have a lovely view of the Overberg Agricultural region, famous for grain farming.
We then pass various villages and drive through Hermanus which is famous for whale watching and a famous holiday destination. About 20 minutes after leaving Hermanus we reach the Gansbaai area for your Shark Adventure.
Your excursion to Geyser and Dyer Islands begins at the picturesque Kleinbaai harbour after a light breakfast or lunch (8h00 or 12h00). The trip takes about 4-5 hours. The boat leaves the harbour at about 8h45 or 12h45 and takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach the channel between Geyser and Dyer Islands. It normally takes about an hour of chumming and baiting before the first great white hones in on the bait with deadly accuracy. After an exhilarating experience we return for a light lunch.
The route back will offer even more spectacular views as we fork off at the village of Kleinmond for a most spectacular drive on the coast to Gordons Bay, before joining the highway again that takes us back to the Cape Town CBD.
